I am an RSS fiend. Evidence below.

rss-trends

While I read quite a few blogs, websites, and RSS feeds, only a few actually deserve to be read by as many people as possible. Obviously everyone has different tastes so here are my favorite three feeds of the moment.

Gamers With Jobs

My home on the internet for the past six years and nine weeks. This oasis of gaming on the internet started as a space to write for two former EvilAvatar.com writers who jumped ship to do their own thing. Oddly enough neither of the two founder, Shawn “Certis” Andrich and Sean “Elysium” Sands, had jobs when they formed the site. Over the years they have attracted some top notch talent in every department. Almost at a daily rate can you find an excellent read on the front page and weekly you can get the enjoyable Conference Call podcast. The site has certainly matured since I started visiting and things have changed but it still is my home.

Dubious Quality

Bill Harris is too damn lazy to have a proper logo.

My man crush for Bill Harris knows no bounds. Bill covers everything here. Consoles, PC gaming, family life, raising children, things around Austin, TX and it’s masterfully written. The blog has a few regular features such as the Friday link post, Console Post of the Month, and regular analysis on all things going on in the industry. If you want to read good analysis with excellent insight the go here now and add it to your RSS feed.

Gametrailers Retrospectives

I am a child of the eighties. I didn’t grow up with the heavy investigative journalism the United States saw during the sixties and seventies. Really the only glimpse we see of that anymore is Dan Rathers Reports and HDNet World Report on HDNet. Gametrailers Retrospectives is in the same vein. They take a critical look at a franchise as dissect it in such interesting detail that their masterfully crafted videos. They came especially handy just before Metal Gear Solid 4 was released. They were able to decipher the code and make a easily understandable plot line for the entire Metal Gear franchise. Surely that deserves some recognition from the international community. I suggest a BAFTA or Nobel. Do yourself a favor and pay special attention to the videos of games you’ve never played but have always heard about. Suddenly you will understand other people.

Are there any gaming websites you think other people should be reading? Let us know in the comments.
